The CAAD was set up to provide information and advice to the citizens of the Metropolitan City of Bologna in the field of home care, identifying solutions that can improve the usability of one's home and lighten the family's care burden.
The CAAD integrates and reinforces the responses of the local agencies that deal in various ways with the lives of disabled and elderly persons, in particular with the social-health workers of the Bologna and Imola USL.

Who can access CAAD services
To Bologna CAAD can access
for free all citizens in the province of bologna, directly or through the territorial social and health services for people with disability and older people.
The services
we offer includes:
Consultancy services for the assessment of homes and living environments (school, company)
Consultations by telephone or email on subsidies or grants
Information through specialised professionals
Training or updating courses
The Bologna CAAD team is made up of several professionals, including: occupational therapist, professional educator, social worker, architect, biomedical electronics engineer, civil construction engineer, and telecommunications engineer with expertise in home automation and environmental control.
The team carries out case assessments through in-depth interviews with the user, their families and/or professional technicians.
When necessary, home visits are also carried out.
The solutions covered by the consultancy are, for example:
• overcoming stairs or other vertical barriers
• adaptations to the bathroom, kitchen or other rooms
• aids for daily living, furnishings and accessories, automation and home automation applications.
How to access to
CAAD consultancies
To request a consultancy, simply contact the CAAD centre by phone during office hours.
Through specialised personnel, the CAAD provides information on all the tax benefits and contributions citizens can access for home adaptations. The staff also carries out information and cultural dissemination activities by collaborating with magazines, documentation centres and the local press.
Some examples of information that can be obtained from the desk:
• contributions for works to remove architectural barriers in residential buildings
(Law 13/89 calls managed by the municipalities)
• contributions on the purchase of technology
or equipment
(Regional Law 29/97 calls managed by the municipalities)
• fiscal facilities in the barriers and assistive devices sector
